Damsel Disorder

Before we hit the road to Nashville to record this EP I cleaned up my bookshelf & found an old Darling Hill songbook from 2016. I skimmed thru it & was delighted to find some pieces of a song I was working on that was about my PTSD symptoms. I dusted it off & brought it to Wild Feather Recording to take a whack at it. At the time it was titled Knives, however, in the studio, I intuitively renamed it Damsel Disorder. A delightfully unexpected song about situational awareness, lingering fear, a before & after, & accepting the fact that I will always want my back to the wall when occupying most rooms.

About the song

Lyrics

Damsel in distress is what I do best

Cause I know where all the knives are

Cause I know where all the knives are

Unfinished business has already left it's scars

Cause I know where all the knives are

Cause I know where all the knives are

Thoughts turned into lyrics like summoning spirits

You turned my thoughts into lyrics

You turned my thoughts into lyrics

Don't let them harm you, bend you break you,

If they only you knew your enemies lay within you

Witnessed your weakness I held them close and kept them my secret

Now I know where all the knives are

Now I know where all the knives are

Adrenaline tasted it's my territory I'll stake it

Now I know where all the knives are

Now I know where all the knives are

Don't let them harm you, bend you, break you

If they only you knew your enemies lay within you

Now I know where all the knives are

Now I know where all the knives are

You turned my thoughts into lyrics

You turned my thoughts into lyrics

Now I know where all the knives are

Now I know where all the knives are
